Pavan Reddy, M.D., is director of and professor in the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine. He holds The John M. O’Quinn Foundation Chair in Cancer and serves as senior associate dean of Cancer Programs and holds an executive physician leadership role overseeing all oncology services, research and strategic growth at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Dr. Reddy was born and raised in India. He earned his medical degree from Osmania University in Hyderabad in 1994. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Missouri, Columbia, and fellowships in hematology-oncology and blood and bone marrow transplantation at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He was a faculty member at the University of Michigan for more than 20 years, serving as the division chief of hematology-oncology and deputy director of the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center from 2016 until September 2022, when he joined Baylor as the director of the Duncan Cancer Center.
Dr. Reddy and his wife, Madhulata Reddy, M.D., have two sons, Sidharth and Saahith.
Research Overview:
As a physician-scientist, Dr. Reddy conducts both bench and translational research, focusing on understanding the role of immune cells in blood diseases, cancer and transplantation. His research spans basic immunology to translational proof-of-concept clinical trials to improve outcomes after allogeneic hematopoietic transplantation. His work has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health for 20 years and by other foundations, including the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the National Marrow Donor Program and the American Society of Transplantation. His more than 200 original research articles have been published in Nature Medicine, Nature Immunology and the New England Journal of Medicine. Dr. Reddy hopes to translate the knowledge he gains through his research into powerful, lifesaving treatments for patients everywhere.
