Dr. Dan Gombos, MD is a professor in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery, Division of Surgery, and Section Chief, Section of Ophthalmology, Department of Head and Neck Surgery, Division of Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is also a clinical co-director for the Retinoblastoma Center of Houston and oversees the surgical needs of patients.
The Retinoblastoma Center of Houston, a consortium of physicians and scientists from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Texas Children’s Cancer Center, Baylor College of Medicine, and Houston Methodist Hospital Research Institute, is seeking to develop therapies to cure this rare pediatric eye cancer. This collaborative approach for a devastating cancer that doesn’t receive the needed funding support is a model for other medical institutions.
