Our Scientists
Dr. Yinghong (Mimi) Wang, MD, PhD is an assistant professor of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition, director of medication induced colitis and enteritis, and director of fecal microbiota transplantation at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Her ground-breaking research of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) as a therapy for severe colitis caused by immunotherapy treatment has shown promise. Colitis, inflammation of the colon, is a common toxicity (or side effect) from immunotherapy, which could result in a patient’s cessation of treatment. Dr. Wang’s research may allow patients to be treated by FMT and resume their immunotherapy treatment.
